Recently, the folks at Underscore undertook a project in good humour to explore the idea of what it means to live. Armed each with a pair of Levi’s jeans, we crafted pieces symbolic of the principles and values that remain a core constant to us in life.
FRIENDS FROM THE WOODS
—Of teamwork and cooperation
Dressing our stool legs in sleeves, we were instantly reminded of the feet of travellers traversing uncharted terrains. Much like how a collective of explorers work together to survive, this is a reminder of the importance of cooperation and teamwork essential in any body.
—Of sacrifice and heroic acts
Wearing the plague doctor mask, we remember that sacrifice is essential in every change, and more importantly remind ourselves of the everyday little heroic acts of our family, friends and colleagues that make our world just that little bit better.
THE THINKING CAP
—Of moments of reverie
Weaving the thinking cap reminded us that in pursuing our art, we constantly engage in all forms of thought, and it is the harmonious blend of all these forms that defines who we are.
IN THE BELLY OF THE WHALE
—Of belief and conviction
Diving to depths of 2250 metres, whales represent a desire to pursue a deeper goal, to valiantly face and overcome the hurdles of today.
CALL OF THE WILD
—Of bravery and valour
Be it rescuing a kid from a burning building or the simple act of telling the truth, we know for sure that courage always lies in us. Like a wolf, it prowls in our deepest recesses, nestled beneath our fears, and when the time is right, it calls out to us, and awaits to be unleashed.
CURIOSITY TWISTED THE CUBE
—Of the novelty that spurs our interest
The many folds of the origami cube ignites curiosity in each of us.
